Glossary
Webcasting
Webcasting is streaming audio and/or
video over the Internet. In essence, webcasting
can be thought of as broadcasting over the
Internet. A webcast can be a live event or
can be prerecorded and then played at a desired
time/date as an OnDemand webcast.
Streaming
Streaming video is a technology for transferring
the video’s data instantly "as
it downloads" over the Internet.
Redundancy
StreamDispatch incorporates hardware redundancy
into each webcast. Short of the Internet failing
- we provide a failsafe infrastructure to
ensure the highest quality delivery available.
Bit Rate
Bit rate, in relation to webcasting, is the
data transfer rate of the audio and/or video
as it streams across the Internet. The higher
the bit rate the better the quality, although,
due to the often unpredictable network limitations
on the Internet there are standard practical
applications of bit rate usage.
